About Lancia
The most important thing you can ever know about me is simply that I am beloved of the Triune God Elohim Adonai, and I have been wildly in love with Him since I was a little girl. I am the expensive product of His unrelenting pursuit and tireless restoration. Everything I am is rooted in His love and His craftsmanship.
I have been writing for decades and raising writers for a good forty years.I know what it is to be voiceless and I know the long fight it takes to win it back. I marvel that I live in a time when I am openly allowed to learn, to read, to write, to lead, to teach, and to champion others. This is a wonder that I do not take for granted. For centuries women have not been privileged to share in such a gift. I am grateful every day.
Since my earliest memories I have been drawn to old things and a particular aesthetic. Old books, old language, old ways. There is a wildness and shamelessness in such things that holds both enchantment and an abiding truth.
I am a friend of trees and wild creatures, and find my deepest quiet in forests. I love the stars. I’d rather be home than anywhere else in the world.
C.S. Lewis is my favourite writer. Narnia and Middle Earth are where I go to find home again when I ‘lose’ my way. I read George MacDonald and loved him long before I ever heard of C.S. Lewis or Tolkien. I have gratefully served as core staff for the C.S. Lewis Foundation for nearly 20 years now. I champion the works of Malcolm Guite. I am a longtime friend and supporter of the Anselm Society. I am a cheerleader for The Rabbit Room.
I believe healing is worth fighting for and that it really must be fought for. I believe that there is a real, true enemy of our souls who works every day to lay waste to us in every way possible. I believe that the Lord God Almighty is our untiring Champion fighting for us in battles we are unable to see but may often feel. I believe prayer is power. I believe Light is greater than the darkness, and that goodness will prevail over evil. I believe that our lives on earth are not the end of our stories. When they end here it is the turning of a page into a far greater story, one that does not end. I believe in the imminent return of Christ as High King and Restorer of all things now broken.
I believe as His redeemed ones, we are called and equipped to answer sorrow with beauty. I believe every act of beauty is a defiance of despair.
I cultivate a writer’s life to tell this truth.
